Just wanted to share something that really inspired me today. I absolutely LOVE the prayer book, Small Steps for Catholic Moms by Danielle Bean and Elizabeth Foss. These faith-filled women cover 12 important areas for moms over 12 months and each day they break it down into think (a quote or verse), pray and act (a suggestion on how to put that prayer into action). Today the prayer seemed to sum up how I have been feeling. I am trying to be a better example to my children and a witness to others of Christ's love simply through my actions and how I treat others. This simple prayer summed it up nicely:
"I know the Good News, Lord, but help me to really know it. I want to feel it in my bones and exude it from every pore in my body. Fill my heart and soul with such overflowing joy that it reveals itself to everyone I meet."
Sounds like a wonderful devotional. I found this passage in my 'Raising Responsive Children' Bible study and it has stuck on my heart...I think it makes a great family/life verse.
ReplyDelete"Love God, your God, with your whole heart: love him with all that's in you, love him with all you've got!
Write these commandments that I've given you today on your hearts. Get them inside of you and then get them inside your children. Talk about them wherever you are, sitting at home or walking in the street; talk about them from the time you get up in the morning to when you fall into bed at night. Tie them on your hands and foreheads as a reminder; inscribe them on the doorposts of your homes and on your city gates."
-Deut 6:5-8 (The Message)
LOVE IT! I have been stressing about raising children that have good values and morals and a strong faith. ALl of these things just remind me that the simplest way is to live it myself everyday. Just be a good example!
